I Want To Follow Jesus

New Life, I can’t…I don’t know where to begin or even HOW to express how freakin’ EXCITED I am about our upcoming First Wednesday (December 7th, 6:30pm). It’s partly selfish: I’m teaching. It’s partly others-focused: it’s for you, for me, for us. Most importantly, it’s ENTIRELY JESUS!

I’m going to be tackling the topic of what it means to follow Jesus. We say that we’re FOLLOWERS of Christ, but what the heck does that mean? Can you explain it to me? Can you put it into words? Is it more than just a feeling? Is it more than raising a hand or checking a box? Is it more than making your parents happy? Is it more than a family tradition?

I’m going to be covering a LOT of Bible—so bring one if you got one. I’ll be sure there are some on hand. Listen, it’s not about what I think or I say…it’s ALL ABOUT JESUS!

Here’s the deal. Grab your friends. Grab your family. Grab your neighbors. Grab your co-workers. Grab EVERY stinkin’ person you know and bring them with you. I’m expecting God to radically change the face of New Life. I’m expecting God to shake the very ground. I’m anticipating life change, or rather, life to be FOUND in obedience to Jesus.

If you’ve ever questioned WHAT it means to FOLLOW Jesus, WHO Jesus IS, WHY we get BAPTIZED, or HOW to do it…be there. Show up with a desire to learn, a desire to know him, a willingness to hear him.

I’m going to offend some people and I KNOW this is true because I’m getting offended in my prayer and study. I’m tired of settling for table scraps when I’ve got a lifetime pass to ___________ (insert your favorite place to eat).

What’s up New Life? Don’t just say, “I’ll pray about who to invite” or “I’ll pray about whether or not to attend”…how about the next time you’re at Outback and you start choking on your steak, I pray whether or not the give you medical assistance...ACT!

Let’s fill this place up. Let’s make a difference.
