A Word of Encouragement

How many of you grew up in a less-than encouraging environment? Parents who tore you down, not lift you. Friends who teased you, not played with you. Family who ridiculed you, not congratulated you.

Maybe you were beaten down about how little you’d amount to in life. Maybe you were always bigger than all the other kids. Maybe it was the color of your hair. Maybe it was the color of your skin. Maybe it was the way you spoke. Maybe you grew up in an undesirable part of town. Maybe you didn’t have the big house. Maybe you were homeless. Maybe your clothes weren’t name brand. Maybe you never heard the words “I love you.” Maybe you fought for some glimpse of attention. Maybe you scarred your outside to match the pain inside. Maybe you were neglected. Maybe you were abused. Maybe…

Maybe…
Just maybe…

Hear me on this, regardless of what you’ve heard, what you’ve endured, what pain you’ve experienced, YOU’RE WORTH SO MUCH MORE. Did you know that God looks down upon you and sees His MASTERPIECE?

HIS masterpiece.
HIS workmanship.
HIS handiwork.
HIS creation.
HIS image.
HIS likeness.

He created you ANEW in Jesus. That means He’s given you a NEW NAME. That means He’s give you a NEW IDENTITY. That means He’s given you a NEW BEGINNING. That means He’s given you a FRESH START.

God wants to take all the crap you’ve had to experience, all the pain you’ve endured, the hurts you’ve pushed aside and buried so deep, the names you’ve been called, the labels you’ve received, the baggage you’ve carried…He wants to take it. He wants to give you rest. He wants you to see yourself as He sees you. He wants you to see the BEAUTY of His creation—you.

God’s got a purpose for your life that’s BIGGER and GREATER than anything you can dare to dream or imagine. You are worth more than anything this world has to offer. You matter because God says you do. You have value because God says you do. Your presence can make a difference in this world because God says it will.

You are a masterpiece.
