James 5:16 says, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (emphasis mine)
When was the last time you confessed your sins, your struggles, your shortcomings, your habits…whatever you want to call them? When was the last time you experienced HEALING because you were willing to LET IT GO?
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (emphasis mine)
Here’s that word again…CONFESS. This time, however, it’s not tied to healing, but with forgiveness and purification. Purification? Yes. God says he will wash us clean, he will cleanse us, in fact, when he’s done with us we’ll be as white as freshly fallen snow (Isaiah 1:18). When was the last time you were FORGIVEN? Have you been FORGIVEN?
It’s not your burden to bear. You don’t have to hang on to whatever it is you’re holding on to. You don’t have to cling to the pain of your past. You are not the sum total of the mistakes you’ve made.
In Christ there’s HOPE for a better tomorrow.
In Christ you get a NEW name, a NEW you.
Outside of a relationship with Jesus, forgiveness is something you might HEAR ABOUT, but never fully EXPERIENCE. It’s never too early to make a change. No turning back. The decision is yours.
