Who Has The Better Plan?

What is something you know you SHOULD be doing, but continue to choose NOT to do? We all have one. Some have more than one, but I’m not judging. Seriously, what is that one thing you should be doing, but for whatever reason you just won’t do it?

As I sat down for my quiet time this morning, and by “quiet” I mean kids running around singing, playing, screaming, banging dishes in the sink, laughing…you get the picture. So, as I sat down for my quiet time this morning I opened up to the book of Ezekiel (day 295 of 365 of the Canonical reading plan on YouVersion) and started reading.

The Old Testament is an interesting read. As I pray for God to reveal areas of my life through His word, I’m always a little hesitant because in the OT there’s lots of death and sacrifice and fighting and just nasty stuff, but I pray it anyways.

Take a few moments of your day and read Ezekiel chapter 20. Just do it. Read it. Before you do ask God to breathe understanding into your soul, to make it relevant to your current situation.

Now, I want to ask again…what is that one thing you SHOULD be doing, but for whatever reason you WON’T do it?

Reading through Ezekiel God describes how time and time again His people, His CHOSEN people, over and over and over again chose to walk AWAY FROM God instead of LEAN INTO God. They walked away. They chose to worship man-made gods instead of CREATOR God. They had a better plan. They knew best.

Maybe God didn’t move fast enough.
Maybe God didn’t give enough.
Maybe God didn’t quiet get it right.

Either way, God continued to show grace and mercy and love and forgiveness and welcomed His people, His children back time and time again. They knew what they were SUPPOSED to do; they simply chose NOT to do it. And because they did their own thing they missed out on God’s blessing.

Are you missing out on God’s blessing?

Will you make a change?

Will you admit it’s not about you?

Will you finally do that one thing?

Will you learn from your past, from their past, and follow God in your present?

Let’s hold each other accountable. Let’s do this together. Let’s be a people of change.
