Last night I had the AWESOME opportunity to attend the Jesus Culture night of worship and ministry. I use the word AWESOME because, well, it was. It was one of those moments when you’re so wrapped up in Jesus that you gotta fight off the presence of God to NOT experience it. Like, you couldn’t help it. You were in. He was there. That’s that.
Serving as a Worship Pastor I’m drawn to the music, I’m drawn to the arts, and as fantastical as all that was the thing that stuck out the most from last night wasn’t the music, wasn’t the smoke and lights, wasn’t the thunderous screaming and worship from the huge crowd…it was a simple phrase spoken by Scott Thompson, Associate Leader at Bethel Atlanta. Here’s what he said…
“You gotta make people jealous of salvation.”
I couldn’t shake it.
I couldn’t get his words out of my head.
It was like his words were meant for me, like the Holy Spirit grabbed his head, turned it towards me, and breathed these words from out his mouth TO me.
Immediately I started thinking of Jesus’ words, calling his people, his followers, believers to be the SALT and LIGHT of the world (Matthew 5:13-16).
What makes someone JEALOUS?
They want it.
They gotta have it.
They’ll do whatever it takes to get it.
They might even hate you and despise you for it.
They'll plot.
They'll scheme.
They'll take it from beside your bed when you're not looking.
Are you giving people reason to WANT to know Jesus?
