Confession + Other Person = Healing

When someone can claim to be the wisest person EVER, that’s pretty intense. I’m sorry, but whatever that person says, I’m listening. That person says I need to start wearing my jeans inside out and my shirts backwards, I’m going to have my doubts, but ultimately, he or she knows BEST.

With God being ALL KNOWING He’ll be excluded from this conversation. That’s cheating. It isn’t fair (as if fair actually exists). Solomon, on the other hand, was just a regular dude like you and I AND he is considered to be the wisest of the wise (1 Kings 4:20-34). He was basically given a wish (1 Kings 3:1-15). He could ask for whatever his heart desired. He could ask for…

A bigger house…
A bigger car (just go with it)…
More clothes…
A better body…
To be taller…
To be thinner…
Have more muscles…
Money…
Women…
Power…

You name it and Solomon had the chance to ask for it and get it. What would you have asked for? Right now, what are the things you believe you NEED? More money? Better job? What is it?

Solomon asked for WISDOM.
And God gave it to him.
And God gave him a LOT of it; after all, that’s kinda what God does.

He who conceals his sin does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
(emphasis mine)

These are the words of Solomon, the WISEST person EVER. He basically says, “You’re only as sick as your secrets.” Keep it to yourself and stay STUCK, tell someone and find FREEDOM. It’s a pretty simple equation: CONFESSION + OTHER PERSON = HEALING (James said something similar, but he wasn’t “wise” he was only Jesus’ half-brother). With that said, here are a few questions I believe you should answer today…

What secrets do I have? Is there anything I said I’d, “take to the grave”? What or who am I hiding from? Do I want to get better? Do I want to experience healing?
