People are watching you.
People who live with you.
People who work with you.
People who are always around you.
People you don’t know.
People you’ve barely spoken to.
Your spouse.
Your kids.
Your neighbors.
What do they see?
What do they hear?
Who do they think you are?
I’ve lived my entire life with the philosophy of, “What you think about me doesn’t determine who I am or who I will be.” But I think I’ve had it all wrong. I would like to suggest a better statement to live by, “What I do and what I say will determine how you view me.”
If people think you’re a jerk, you probably are.
If people think you’re an idiot, you’re probably not even reading this.
If people think you love Jesus, you just might.
Take responsibility. I’m not just saying this to you; I need to as well. It’s time to stop blaming others for our reputation and the gossip; taking an honest look at how we’ve lived and make some changes!
How do people view you? What’s the general consensus on your attitude and personality? Actions speak louder than words; what are your actions saying? Do people try to get around you or flee from you? What needs to change?
