3 Things To Remember On Thanksgiving Break
Call it a holiday. Call it a break. Call it a vacation. Schools are closed. Schedules have changed. Alarm clocks have been unplugged. Family is in town. You’re traveling out of state. Food is being prepared. Kids are playing video games. Black Friday is waiting eagerly to swallow your bank account. Thanksgiving is here. And just like most holidays it’s easy to get caught up in all the festivities. Why? Because it’s fun.
Here’s a list of things EASILY forgotten in the chaos of a holiday:
#1 Reading Your Bible—ain’t nobody got time for that! You may feel like you don’t have time for it OR you may simply “forget” about it because you’re not on your normal schedule. He’s STILL God. He’s STILL at work in you and around you. He’s STILL trying to show you something. MAKE time for it.
#2 Prayer—aside from praying over food or praying certain families DON’T show up, prayer has a tendency to follow Bible reading into the land of things forgotten. You gotta get up and go, especially on Black Friday! Some of us complain that it’s too early to wake up and read the Bible and pray, but we’ll be lining up at the stores from 1:00am until 7:00am to get those deals. Heck, pray IN line (and not for that TV to still be in stock).
#3 Moderation—what is this? Let’s be honest. Moderation isn’t forgotten over the holidays, moderation is forgotten on a daily basis. If you struggle with food the holidays are especially difficult. So much food. It’s all so good. You don’t want to see it go to waste. You don’t want to offend anyone. Remember, Jesus FED the 5,000, he didn’t EAT the 5,000. Grab a smaller plate. Eat a little at a time. Eat until you’re SATISFIED, not FULL.
