Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
Luke 6:30-31 NKJV
Where do wisdom and discernment come into play? Am I seriously just to give without QUESTION? What if they’re lying? What if they don’t really need it? Shouldn’t they be required to show some type of proof? Shouldn’t there be an investigation? Is there a limit to how much or how often?
Of course, since he’s Jesus and knew I was going to ask these questions, he’s already provided an answer.
But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
Luke 6:35-36 NKJV
1. LOVE your enemies.
2. DO good.
3. LEND, hoping for nothing in return.
4. BE merciful.
Sometimes cynicism gets in the way of generosity. I want specifics. I want guarantees. I want to know 100% that this person is actually in NEED. God, knowing my doubts, answers each of my questions with a simple, yet profound answer…
Give to everyone who asks of you.
