Thanksgiving is Over; What About Giving Thanks?
Thanksgiving has come and gone (though chances are all the food has not left… yet). Black Friday is here or should I say HAS been here (it somehow managed to stretch into an entire week this year). And I can only imagine, since I’m not a Black Friday shopper (one of THOSE people), that it can be really REALLY easy to lose any notion of thanksgiving or giving thanks.
You get to the store. You’re pumped. You’re excited. You’ve sat down and planned all week long the stores you hit, the deals you get, and the exact dollar amount you’d spend. You’ve drawn up a map like you’re Dora the Explorer trying to find her way back to grandma’s house (with stops along the way at Best Buy, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and Wal-Mart). You’re dressed warm, just in case there’s a line outside. You’ve drawn up detours and alternative stores, but you’re praying what you want is where you want when you want. And, if you’re early enough, it might just be there waiting for you. If you’re not…
What you are GRATEFUL for?
Gratitude can be difficult to find under NORMAL circumstances, let alone standing in line, waiting for hours, moving to the back of the store (as fast as you possibly can, which isn’t very fast at all), only to find the big, flat screen TV you wanted is already OUT OF STOCK. The Xbox One’s and Playstation 4’s are all GONE. Gratitude? You better get out of here with that mess.
What are you GRATEFUL for?
You might not FEEL like it, but there’s SOMETHING in your life worth celebrating, SOMETHING in your life that’s worth giving thanks, SOMETHING in your life you can cling to. What is it? Write it down. Read it aloud. Tell somebody. Take time today to create a GRATITUDE LIST. Here, I’ll help you start…
