Every once in a while, a song comes along that penetrates
the hardest of hearts. I’m talkin’ about callousness that’s built up over years
and years and hurt and fear and anger and bitterness and just flat out
stubbornness. The song “Sinking Deep” released by Hillsong Young & Free is
one of those songs.
The lyrics are beautiful. You almost DON’T want to sing
along, well, if you’re really paying close attention to the words and are one
of those “I won’t sing it unless I believe it” kinda people… you probably CAN’T
sing along. I mean, can you honest say:
“Your face is all I seek” or
“You are my everything” or
“You are my one desire” or
“Lord hear my only cry, to know You all my life”
They’re AMAZING declarations of faith and passion. Songs
like this inspire me to be a BETTER Christian. Songs like these challenged me
to EVALUATE my faith, my life, and my love. Songs like this remind me that God
is NOT done speaking through his people.
