Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you
season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.” (Mark 9:50 NKJV)
When I read this I feel like Jesus is saying, “Your PURPOSE
is found in your PASSION.” Think about it…
When you’re PASSIONATE about something nothing can stop you
from making it happen or trying to get more. You don’t need someone to motivate
you because you want it. You don’t need someone to inspire you because you can’t
stop thinking about it. You don’t need someone to push you because you’ve
already developed a strategy to get it. THAT’S passion!
What are the things you’re passionate about? What has your
attention? What are you fighting for? What can you not get enough of? What are
you telling people about?
That’s YOUR passion. What is it?
And what happens when it’s no longer your passion? What
happens then? How much time do you devote to it? Who are you telling about it?
Are you still trying to get it? Do you still want to see it happen?
Chances are, no.
The same principle applies to our relationship with Jesus.
When Jesus is PRIMARY (passion) then we’re reading, writing, studying, praying,
serving, and telling people about him (purpose). But if he slips down to second
place or further… well, the salt loses its saltiness.
