Don't Care How I Want It Now

Remember, Veruca Salt? She was one of the girls from Willy Wonka (easily a Top 10 movie of all time). Veruca didn’t play well with others. She wasn’t concerned with making friends she was concerned with getting what she wanted. In her eyes, people were a means to an end. She yelled at her father. She pushed people out of the way. She had everyone working tirelessly to get her everything she wanted.

Don’t care how I want it now.

These are the words she screamed during her BIG scene. She said, “don't care how…” but that wasn’t true. She wanted it now, but she wanted someone else to do it or get it for her.

If you’re not willing to work for it you’ll probably never get it.

Who wants to hear that?
I don’t.
But…
Too often we expect someone else to do the work.
Too often we expect someone else to pick up the slack.
Too often we expect someone else to make us what we want, when we want, how we want.
We want things to just happen.
No, it doesn’t stop when we’re children believing money grows on trees…
It continues into adulthood when we believe we deserve better, but are doing nothing to get it.
The microwave has ruined us.
Fast food has spoiled us.

We don’t care how we want it now.
